“I (leave / break / birth) without pain” / “Painless birth”

*(“parto” can mean either “I leave”, or “I break”, or “I birth”)
Now I go away and, despite
The pain not wanting to leave yet
Now I go away and leave/break/birth* without pain
And I leave/break/birth within moments
Despite there being moments
In which inside the pain doesn’t leave/break/birth without pain.

Now I go away and, despite
The pain not wanting to leave yet
Now I go away and leave/break/birth* without pain
And I leave/break/birth within moments
Despite there being moments
In which inside the pain doesn’t leave/break/birth without pain.

[verse 1]
Like the snake that changes skin
Like the chrysalis flies in the sky
Like the Moon that takes the tide
Like the girl that wakes up a woman
Milk tooth, white hair
First child, the laughter and the cry
Pleasure and pain, greater love
Stretch marks and tears, blood and sweat
Like the bread dough of tomorrow
Like the candor of the morning light
Like an egg that cracks inside
Like the wrinkle that is born from time
I am the seed, i have the seed
I pass the seed, i grow and burst (sapling)
In the creation of the creation
I create a poem, one more heart
Like the weed that rips tar
Like the strength that rises us from the ground
Like the rain that falls on the desert
Like the milk that is born from the breast
Generated (gestated) by our grandmothers
By our mothers, by our voice
Made by us, ourselves, only for us,
Close and alone
Created by our bellies
By the entrails and the wounds
Full, empty, the cubs, life
More than perfect and more primitive
Like the pearl that is born from the oyster
From me another matrioshka is born
Like the pearl that is born from the oyster
From me another matrioshka is born

[chorus]
Now I go away and, despite
The pain not wanting to leave yet
Now I go away and leave/break/birth* without pain
And I leave/break/birth within moments
Despite there being moments
In which inside the pain doesn’t leave/break/birth without pain.

Mad Mermaid*

She wanted to wear shoes, dance in heels
Kiss the lips of a man, wander into the bush
She wanted to shed her scales and tear off her fins
Until human legs grew out from her flesh
Get to know sweet, bitter and sour
Where she was it was all salty, blued, and watery
Break open the tank, leave Atlantis for good
And with her hymns she prayed to sailors for help
But her singing was screaming that they couldn't bear
And only Odysseus had lived through hearing her
Her singing was a spell mourned out like fado
That brought lost ships to the other side

I have a conch shell that whispers strange things into my ear...

Her voice was free, unlike her
The way she'd always wished for her body to be
And in singing out her dream and fantasy
She was like an usher for souls
Strong as a bucking horse, like a scythe
She'd trespass ice-cold into the deep silence of the night
While her melody, just like the sea spray
Wrapped the great length of her entourage in wonder
The low tide comes bearing in cold water
Her melancholy and fear of death
Do tears not come from the same saltwater?
She'd scream between the sea and the star of dawn

I have a sponge heart that swells with sadness...

I'll be the madwoman who'll try to leave the sea behind
With the courage of those who leave their habitat
I'll be the madwoman who'll scream, cry, roar
Flail my arms, struggle until I succeed
I'll be the madwoman who'll miss the sea,
Miss the air that envelopes this place
Whenever they say that a madwoman is better mute than hoarse
I'll strip naked, for clothes restrict breathing
And I'll scream even louder upon this hanging stage
For my silence would be worse than my singing

Do tears not come from the same saltwater?
She'd scream between the sea and the star of dawn
And I'll scream even louder upon this hanging stage
For my silence would be worse than my singing
