So Normal

Mum feels best at home
We have fish on Mondays
Ooh-ooh, yeah-yeah

I miss my glass sphere
You drive faster on the way home
Ooh-ooh, yeah-yeah

At our place, at our place, at our place
Everything is so, so normal, so normal
At our place, at our place, at our place
Everything is so normal

Trinket collect dust in my room
I clean every Saturday
Ooh-ooh, yeah-yeah

Everything that is still there
It doesn't help to cry
Ooh-ooh, yeah-yeah

At our place, at our place, at our place
Everything is so, so normal, so normal
At our place, at our place, at our place
Everything is so normal

At our place, at our place, at our place
Everything is so, so normal, so normal
At our place, at our place, at our place
Everything is so normal

The one, out of my parents rules, that was the hardest for me to abide by, was the night rule, which dealt with that I had to stay lying down in my bed in the darkness, when my father was done reading my bedtime story and my mum had said goodnight.
They would leave the door ajar, and far down the hall they would light a small lamp, that would send a dim light and long shadows my way.
Under my bed there were big drawers on wheels, and I was certain, that I heard something rummage around down there, but I didn't dare to check.
I started fearing the evenings more than my mothers tears, but one day I thought of something.
I carefully got out of bed and sneaked down the hall to the living room. Through the keyhole I could see my father sit in his chair and watch television and my mother sit in her chair and read Søndags-B.T.1.
It would calm me enough, so that I could sneak back to bed and fall asleep, and from thereon I would repeat this many times. But in the end my parents discovered what was going on.
They could see a shadow cover the keyhole, they said, and if I'd ever lurked again, I would get a smacking. But I did do it again and my mum came down to smack me
- It didn't hurt at all, I said with relieve, when she was done, but then my father came to, and that was a completely different story. When he left he locked the door from the outside. That was my own fault.
- Your mother was so soft. She couldn't hit you properly, he said, when they retold the story over dinner, and then all three of us would laugh.

(When my mother has said goodnight
There is something that still is
Under the bed and on wheels
Big monsters are hiding
The night rule, no nonsense
When my mother has said goodnight
It rummages, something rings
It's a blinking penalty
It's a huge penalty)
