Poppaea

Dear followers of the interesting history of the old Rome: today we'll talk about Poppaea, who we inadvertently don't seem to but we end up learning something. Poppaea was a roman empress who was known by her beauty and the evil intentions she had. Poppaea was a daughter of Titus Ollius and Poppaea Sabina the Elder.

When she was very young, in the 2nd grade of high school, she left mom and dad and married Rufrius Crispinus who was a prefect of the roman cohorts. In other words, for you to know what a prefect was, he was some kind of mix between governor, tax office representative and chief of the police officers, all in one person.

Nero saw her one day and said 'Poppaea, you are as hot as hell and I'm gonna pass you through the ring.' In other words, since Rome was a vineyard without fences for Nero, he wanted to have sex with her just like that. And he ordered Otho who was a brown noser he always had next to him to take her from her husband, do the show of marrying her and then to pass her to the emperor. To cover the record, then the emperor would put him a fine for poor parking and that's it.

But Otho also liked Poppaea and thinking 'this is my turn', after taking her from the husband he locked her in his house saying 'I'm gonna eat this prawn and I'll find another labyrinth to Nero'. But Nero was a whimsical and wanted no more labyrinth than Poppaea. So when he found out the prank that Otho the brown noser wanted to do to him, he sent him to Lusitania for tobacco, something that Otho had to do going in car from Rome to Lisbon, because the airports almost always were closed back then.

With what the journey lasted, Nero had enough time to finish the job with Poppaea. After all, Nero takes Poppaea to the palace and settles her in a room with a kitchen and tells her 'You're my concubine and I'm the only one who calls the shots' and played the lyre for her.

Poppaea fell for it by the moment, but in spite that she was doing what she wanted with Nero, she didn't stop being his concubine since Nero was married with Octavia. And Poppaea started to get on Nero's wick. That if Octavia did this, that if Octavia did that, that the snake over here, that it's Octavia's stuff, that a poison over there, that it's Octavia's stuff. After all, Nero who got red hot immediately, took extreme measures and banished Octavia to the monkey island. Then he did the same with Agrippina, the mother of Nero who was also troubling and then with the free field she married Nero and became the Rome empress.

But since Rome in that time was like that and Nero was a savage, lo and behold that while Poppaea was pregnant she said something to Nero or Nero had one of those brutish days. The thing is that he goes and kicks Poppaea in the belly (because Nero was that classy) and killed her. They said that Nero cried for Poppaea. It couldn't be demonstrated because there were no TV news. They said he regretted it so much, who knows. They said he even pronounced the funeral oration, who knows. The truth is that Poppaea died and Nero kept playing the lyre.

They say that Poppaea worshiped her beauty so much that she had five hundred donkeys in her stable with the purpose of having a daily donkey milk bath to take care of her skin. I don't know how Poppaea's skin was but I think it's a stupid thing (or better said a jackass thing) no matter how many proprieties the donkey milk has. They say (they say) that Nero's funeral oration was to grab the lyre and sing . I don't know but I'm not surprised.
