The Gambler

Today I was lazy even to read, I flipped through a few pages
and then my eyelids dropped - at that moment I was already asleep.
Suddenly the dream came, straight from this book,
that I met a gambler and he told me:

A man who can play well, have to read people's faces, boy,
to know what's up and what they want to hide in their eyes,
I know you're making mistakes, you wanna win more than you can lose,
who lost must pay up, so let me advise you.

Just dust and mud on shoes, whoever wrote this novel
had no idea I will get tired from it.
I would switch sides with you at once, boy,
if you want to, for a while, be the dreaded gambler and keep your wandering boots on.

CHORUS: Life is a won game if you raise the bets,
have faith and don't give up, just keep playing.
Good luck has its own price, which you hold in your palms
If you let go for a while, then: how much would you be worth?

Every gambler has a manual how to live a hundred years,
he knows what to throw away and what is worth to take.
But every palm is unlucky and every palm is fortunate,
only one thing no longer belongs to you - your roof above your head.

Suddenly I woke up, I lifted my head from the book,
I look at the picture how much we look alike.
And on a dark night in the distance, someone says 'thanks'
and I didn't know back then: was it him or me?

Chorus x4:
