Terrified, I watch the television,
my golden is being destroyed.
I never thought it would be true,
so much inhumanity and terrible cruelty.
 
What's being done by its citizens,
they were once friends and good neighbors1.
Cruel politics has destroyed everything,
it completely changes people.
 
Divine angels, where are you now
on this truly terrible hour?
Eight years ago I was born in Sarajevo,
from childhood I lived my entire life there.
 
I remember the readings2 Daniel,
the first alef-bet3 I learned from him.
At home we used Spanish,
with friends we spoke our own4 in school.
 
From Spain we brought with us culture and tradition,
the language and romances we cultivated with our hearts.
If the State of Israel didn't exist,
I don't know how the Jewish people would survive.
 
We send many thanks to God Almighty
for creating our glorious country for the third time.
