Suicide Room

You probably think that, the room was empty.
But there were three chairs with solid backs.
And a lamp to fight against the darkness.
A desk, and a wallet and some newspapers on it.
Easygoing Buddha, anxious Jesus.
Seven Elephants for good luck, and a notebook in a drawer.
Don't you think that our addresses weren't there?

Do you think that there weren't enough books, paintings, or music discs?
And a comforting trumpet hold by black hands.
Saskia with a heartfelt flower.
The joy of the gods' spark.
Odys on a shelf sleeping a life-giving dream
after the hardships of the fifth song.
Moralists,
surnames written with gold syllables
on beautifully tanned backs.
The politicians right next to me, standing up straight.

And with no exit, even through the doors,
With no sights, even through the windows,
the room seemed to be
Glasses for looking into the distance were laying on the windowsill.
Only one fly was still buzzing, so it was still alive.

You think that, maybe a letter would explain something.
And what if I tell you that there was no letter-
and so many of us - friends, and everybody would manage
To fit in that envelope leaning on a glass.
